McKenzie is Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for nutribullet who aims to make the world a healthier, happier place. She believes that living a healthy lifestyle and eating for your health isn't meant to be complicated -- it's meant to be simple, enjoyable, and judgment-free (with room for dessert). When she’s not dishing out nutrition tidbits, you can find McKenzie visiting her local farmers market, hiking her favorite trails with her husband, and chasing after her daughters.

Hi everyone! We’re Sherene Chou, MS, RD and McKenzie Jones, RD, registered dietitians for nutribullet®. Our role is to translate nutrition science into practical, everyday guidance so healthy living feels simple, enjoyable, and accessible for everyone.

One of our favorite times of year to spotlight the importance of balanced eating is National Nutrition Month®, an annual campaign celebrated each March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. National Nutrition Month highlights how small, consistent food choices can support long-term health, energy, and overall well-being.

This year’s theme, “Discover the Power of Nutrition,” emphasizes how food nourishes not only our bodies, but also our communities, from family meals at home to neighborhood gatherings and food-bank support.

If you’re wondering how to participate in National Nutrition Month or where to begin improving your eating habits, these seven easy nutrition tips can help you eat well this month – and all year long!

1. Make Half Your Plate Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables provide essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants that support heart health, digestion, and immune function.

Fresh, frozen, and canned options all count — choose what fits your budget and lifestyle.

Easy idea: Start with this Super Blue Smoothie. It’s one of our favorites!

2. Keep Healthy Snacks Within Reach

Balanced snacks help maintain steady energy levels between meals and prevent overeating later.

Aim for snacks that include:

Our Edamame Hummus, Super Seed Butter, and Peanut Butter Energy Bites are our go-to snacks!

3. Explore New Foods and Flavors

Trying new ingredients increases dietary variety, which helps ensure you get a broader range of nutrients.

Experiment with:

4. Add More Plant-Based Meals

Plant proteins such as beans, lentils, tofu, and chickpeas are nutritious, affordable, and environmentally friendly.

Benefits of plant-based foods include:

Here are nutritious ways to pack in fiber and protein with these ingredients: Rich Black Bean Dip and 5-Spice Tofu Stir-Fry.

5. Drink More Water

Water is essential for transporting nutrients, regulating body temperature, and supporting physical performance.

You may need extra fluids if you:

Keep a reusable bottle nearby as a reminder to hydrate throughout the day. Here are some more tips!

6. Reduce Food Waste

Planning meals and storing food properly can help you save money while reducing environmental impact. Reducing food waste helps maximize both your grocery budget and the nutrients you purchase.

Simple ways to waste less food:

7. Cook (or Blend) More at Home

Preparing meals at home allows you to control ingredients, portion sizes, and cooking methods.

You don’t need advanced skills to start, mastering basics can make a big difference.

Begin with simple techniques like:

Home cooking is linked to healthier eating patterns and can also be a rewarding way to connect with family.

The Bottom Line: Small Nutrition Changes Add Up

Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. Small, consistent habits –  eating more plants, staying hydrated, cooking at home, and trying new foods – can have a powerful impact on long-term health.

At nutribullet®, we believe nutritious food should be both delicious and accessible. Our recipe library offers inspiration for every skill level, along with science-backed articles you can trust.
